Austin air purifiers employ
high efficiency air filtration system for removing dust, allergens, odors
and chemicals. The main filter assembly comprises the following filters:
Model HM 400
and HM 200 Junior - true HEPA
filter and activated granular carbon canister.
Model HM HEGA
and HM 200 HEGA - true HEPA
and cloth embed dust carbon.
Model HM Plus
- true HEPA and specialty enhanced
(Superblend) granular carbon.
Both, true HEPA and activated
carbon filters in all Austin air purifier model are combined all together
in one filter assembly and replaced simulataneously each time true HEPA
or activated carbon filter gets completely saturated. The main filters in all
three large models: HM 400, HM HEGA and HM Plus have the same dimensions
and are interchangeable (fit any of these models). |

The pre filter in Austin
air purifiers is the first stage of the air filtration system. It traps
large dust and dirt particles, thus protects fine true HEPA filter from
contamination and prolongs its lifetime.
The pre filter can be vacuumed
from the outside of the unit through the grill.
To vacuum it directly the
main filter has to be taken off the unit. See the Filter Replacing Procedure
on how to take the filter assembly off the unit.
The pre filter has to be
replaced with new one when gets very dirty or ruined. The average lifetime
of the pre filter in Austin air purifiers - one year. |

HEPA and Carbon Filter Assembly.
The main filter assembly
in Austin air purifiers is design to stay efficient under normal residential
conditions for up to 5 years. When true HEPA filter gets completely clogged with dust and allergens it provides extremely high resistance to the air flow. If you put your palm agains the clean air output and feel that almost no air coming off the unit - this is a right indication that true HEPA filter is completely clogged and should be replaced. When activated carbon filter gets completely saturated you can smell unpleasant odors coming out of the unit. This is the indication that activated carbon filter is completely saturated and should be replaced.
Pre Filter.
The lifetime of the pre
filter in Austin air purifiers - 8 to 16 months depending on the usage
and the level of concentration of visible dust. The pre filter should be
vacuumed once a month or two and replaced when it gets very dirty or ruined.

The main filter assembly
in Austin air purifiers is backed by the 5 year pro rated warranty.
Under this pro rated warranty the user of Austin air purifier becomes eligible for recieving a new filter assembly at a partial cost if one or another filter in Austin unit fails within the duration period of the pro rated warranty period. This warranty applies to the Austin units used under normal residential conditions only.
Under the pro rated warranty the sooner you have to replace the filter, the less money you pay. Generally, this unique feature of Austin air purifiers allows user to get the brand new filtration unit (hepa filter plus activated carbon filter plus pre filter) every two or three years at a cost 30 % - 60 % of a new one.

The filter replacing procedure
in Austin Air purifiers is as follows:
- put the unit up-side-down;
- unscrew four screws holding
the bottom panel on;
- remove the filter assembly;
- replace the pre filter
or the whole filter assembly with new one;
- put the bottom panel back
on and screw it;
- put the unit back in working
position.
It takes only few minutes
to complete.
